Finding you5/27/2023 ![]() From the first chapter she wove a tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. Lena Hendrix is a new author to me and I am surprised to learn that this is her debut novel. Loved the setting, the steam was HOT, and the side characters were wonderful.Ĥ.5 star Review Finding You by Lena Hendrix It might sound like I didn't like the story but I really did! If it had been set up differently, if the characters dove a little deeper into their emotions, if everyone had just discussed things from the get-go, the story would've had less silly drama and more character depth.ĭespite my frustration with the plot, both these MC’s were excellent. In fact, this is SO NOT a triangle of any shape because the hero’s brother is gay and is best friends with the heroine I also had a huge issue in that, he really didn't have any excuse at all for not writing her back.įor anyone who is concerned this is absolutely NOT a love triangle!! I understand the hero was conflicted thinking his brother was in love with the heroine, but the hot/cold act he kept pulling on her the entire time felt cruel and it was very frustrating to read. I would have actually liked the story to begin with some of the letters. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.Ī sweet small-town romance with two people who "met" via letters sent over an eight year time period. I am impressed and I cannot wait to read more by this new author. The pace and plot were very good, and I had a hard time putting the book down. I really loved the feelings they develop for each other so quickly and the connection they share. ![]() The passion and the hot times between them were perfect for their story. I really enjoyed reading as they got to know each other. I really appreciated her acceptance of Lincoln where he was and her ability to not push him to share more than he could at any given time. I also really loved her competence in the outdoors as a guide. I loved her strength of character and her determination to succeed. I love that she wrote letters to Lincoln while he was overseas, but I also understood why she avoided him after he came home. I felt like I really understood her and how she felt like she never quite fit. I also loved that he recognized that he had some baggage and he felt she deserved more than he could give. It was easy to understand how he was torn between his honor code, his desires, and his feelings for Joanna. I love that Joanna’s letters gave him that thread to hang onto in the war zone. I love the symbolism of the Valkyrie and how it impacted his life. I found his character to be complex and tough with a heart like a soft gooey marshmallow. I also appreciated how she deals with Lincoln and the struggles he has after he gets home. ![]() I really appreciated that the author understands the military and the difference between Marines and soldiers. The wounded and damaged hero is my favorite and the author did an excellent job with him. After he comes home to the small town of Chikalu Falls, Montana, the story moves forward two years. The story opens with Lincoln, serving in combat as a Marine and being injured. It is the first in an interconnected series but there is no cliffhanger, and it ends with a wonderful HEA. It is written in first person from a dual POV. This is the author’s debut book, and it is a winner. The wounded hero returns home to find healing and love. love triangles between siblings and their love interest are not my thing unless your names are Stefan and Damon respectfully. do u want me to finish this and give it a shitty rating with a ranty review OR leave it unrated and firmly on my dnf shelf? either way you’re gonna be mad, so.ĭidn’t realise the hero’s younger brother is supposedly in love with the heroine too. If id continued reading i probably would have rated this one or two stars, which is totally within right my right to do ) so y’all commenting on this better make your minds up, fr. it’s not like i rated the book and im allowed to dnf something i wasn’t enjoying. i still didn’t like this book regardless of the hero thinking his brother loved the h too. Edit : please, if one more person comments on this and demands i give this book another shot even though it was boring me to tears on top of the allusions that the H's younger brother is also in love with the h (which is a trope i really hate), i will lose my ever-loving mind! okay :) even though i know that’s not the case now.
